BriTANicK, otherwise known as YouTube sketch legends and comedy writing kings Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, return to Edinburgh this year for their sophomore sketch outing at the Fringe festival. Whilst they are relatively new to the festival they are not new to sketch at all, and their show is masterfully constructed, playfully performed and laugh-out-loud funny for the full hour.
It is an assured show, with several rabbit holes that McElhaney and Kocher masterfully fill in and link back together again by the end of the show with an almost ‘Breaking the Magician’s Code’ style pay off at the end. Along the way, there are some meta sketches (including time travel in consideration of how trauma creates comedy) that lend a sometimes surreal but always hilarious edge to the hour. A masterpiece of sketch comedy, and absolutely my favourite sketch show I saw. Oh, and one of them is really watchable.
